My Travels with Andrew

One of the most exciting parts of being retired is that I am able to travel with my best friend when he has to go on business. He had a meeting in Arlington at the end of September which I would have missed had I still been working. But, I was able to go with him this time. We began our mini-vacation by going to Charlottesville to catch up with Jennie for some quality time where we attended a National Bull Riding event on Friday night. Then on Saturday, Megan drove up to attend the UVA game with us. It was September and the temperature for Saturday's game was 94! Too hot for me at a football game! On Sunday morning, we had coffee with the girls and then Andrew and I headed to Old Town Alexandria for the evening. While we were there, we toured the historic part and strolled along the shops on Kings Street.

This was one of my favorite shops. I loved the way the owner had grown the flowers on the outside of his shop.

We enjoyed our walk along the harbor.

We passed this house on our walk to our friend's house. It reminded us of the architecture of Menokin and Mt. Airy.

Loved the quaint streets! This was one block from our friend's house. They gave us a tour of their historic restored home and then we went to dinner at a great restaurant on King's Street.

The next morning began the end of our vacation part because Andrew had to report for his conference. I spent the day in the hotel while he went to meetings. On the second day, we were able to meet Rebekah for lunch. She works just one block from the hotel where we were staying. These pictures were taken just outside of the hotel in a garden.

We grabbed sandwiches nearby at a sandwich shop called Pot Bellies.

As we walked Rebekah back to work, I embarrassed her by making her pose for a picture outside of the Fish and Wildlife building where she works. She said she felt like she was having her picture taken on the first day of school. I really enjoyed getting to see Reba's work surroundings and I would have never done it had it not been for my travels with Andrew!
